During May and June 2007 Antony Gormley worked at the print studio of Editions Copenhagen in Denmark on a series of 10 lithographs. He drew on the stones and with the assistance of Master Printer Rasmus Urwald printed the lithographs himself. For some of the prints a new technique involving mixing the inks with linseed oil was used imparting great subtlety to the images. Very heavy (250 gsm) Arches wove paper was used and the lithographs were printed to the edges of the sheets, without margins. The series came after a 16 year lapse since Gormley’s previous graphic works and was his first venture into lithography. His earlier prints had been smaller format etchings and woodcuts. His print oeuvre remains very small. The lithographs were jointly published by Editions Copenhagen and World House Editions, Middlebury CT
